Booster doses against Covid-19 have now been mandated for some workers over 18

An Amendment Order came into effect midnight Sunday, 23rd January to require booster doses against Covid-19 for certain workers over 18.  This first mandate is for the Groups of Affected Persons, Items 1 to 9 in Schedule 2 of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021.

A quick summary of the dates to be aware of are:

  • MIQ, Border & Health and Disability sectors – affected persons are to have had their booster dose before 15 February 2022 or before the close of 183 days after the date on which they were vaccinated
  • Education & Correction sectors – before 1 March 2022 or before the close of 183 days after the date on which they were vaccinated

There is no mandate yet for My Vaccine Pass sectors (hospitality, gyms, events, close-proximity businesses and tertiary education providers) to receive booster doses against Covid-19.

If your sector or services are impacted by the Vaccination Order;

  • Check the requirements of the Amendment Order
  • Make your staff aware of the date by which they must have received their Covid-19 booster dose
  • Diary and monitor those dates and send reminders to workers as necessary
  • Maintain your records with a copy of the vaccination including the date and type of booster dose received for all affected staff
