Hi, I'm Mandy Cartwright
I've spent most of my career helping employers and managers make clear, confident people decisions when it actually matters.
As a Director of Grow HR, I help set the strategic direction of the firm while staying hands-on with clients. We work exclusively with employers, and our approach is deliberately practical, relationship-led, and tailored to the size, capability and appetite of each business.
I also partner with owners and managers who need a trusted sounding board, not just a policy document. Whether that's working through a complex employment situation, building people systems that will actually get used, or planning ahead so problems don't catch you off guard, I'm focused on advice that works in the real world. I also specialise in pay and incentive design, building remuneration frameworks that are fair, practical and fit for the business.
Before consulting, I spent 14 years in in-house HR roles across education, financial services and the public sector in New Zealand and the UK. That grounding shapes how I work: commercially realistic, operationally focused, and always mindful that good advice has to land in the real world to mean anything.
Outside of work, I'm happiest outdoors, usually keeping our retriever Ghillie entertained or out fishing when the conditions cooperate.
